Frequently Asked Questions
- How much is a beer? $1.10
- Will I see Lions in the street? Unfortunelty not, but the Eastern Cape has World Class game reserves with the Big 5 are within 20 min – 3 hours away
- Is the crime bad? Unfortunately crime is present in South Africa as it is in any country in the world regardless. South Africa, although more developed than the rest of Africa face similar challenges as the rest of the continent to a large degree. The rate of crime is without a doubt higher than Europe, USA and Australia. Due to adversity brought upon poor governance and inequality over ages people resort to crime. It is more prevalent in specific hotspots within cities, which should be avoided when you visit the country. These areas will be highlighted and a guide of how to look after yourself and keep your belongings safe whilst in SA will be shared with all. You are ultimately responsible for your actions and you should make precautions to avoid known challenges around safety and security. South Africa welcomes millions of visitors from all across the world on an annual basis who can vouch for its splendour and unrivalled beauty and warmth of its people.
- What about “Load Shedding”? Yes, South Africa is challenged with a shortage of consistent power supply. As citizens of South Africa along with many businesses we have made peace with the fact that we have to sort our own needs out. We have resorted to alternative forms of energy supply for our daily life and at work. We have made provision for any interruptions with power produced by generators and solar which deals with our energy needs in a seamless sequence of switchover in supply. Should we win the bid to host the 2024 WWST we will without a doubt have multiple failover sources of power supply.
- Which suburbs is closest to the wave? Nahoon and Stirling are within 5 minute of Nahoon Reef. These suburbs are considered safe and have comfortable to luxury guesthouses or AirBnbs

Welcome to Home of the Legends
The Eastern Cape is often referred to as a world in one province. The second largest of South Africa’s nine provinces, it offers everything from snow skiing to sunny beaches, game reserves to fascinating history. Located on the eastern most part of South Africa, an area of almost 170,000 square kilometres of diverse landscape. The province has a very strong and distinct culture and heritage, a rich history from the vibrant and timeless Xhosa traditions.
The coastline offers an abundance of waves from beginners to pro’s. Nahoon Reef is a right-hand point/reef break that offers the perfect canvas for high performance surfing. The wave has hosted prestigious surfing events by the World Surf League over the years and many national level events. Being an ultra consistent wave, the locals are a chilled, tight-knit crew who are welcoming to anyone who has manners and respect. Get the right wave and enjoy a 200m+ ride all the way to the car park. Further down the point is WWST ’24 back up venue; Nahoon Corner. A mix of sand and rock, this playful wave comes to life when the Reef is maxing out or windblown.
